Write For Us

We commission from writers who know Bali first-hand, and we pay for what we publish.

What we want

Reported stories with an angle. A season, a price, a road, a person. You have been there, recently, and you can prove it.

Length and rate

800 to 2,000 words depending on the story. Rates are agreed before you write, and we pay on publication.

Reply time

Every pitch gets an answer within a week, yes or no. If it is a no, we will usually say why.

What we are looking for

  • Reported stories with a clear angle, not destination round-ups.
  • First-hand reporting: you have been there, recently.
  • Specifics over adjectives. A price, a name, a road, a season.
  • Voices we do not already have on the masthead.

What we will not run

  • AI-generated copy. We check, and it ends the relationship.
  • Unmarked sponsored or affiliate content.
  • Anything already published elsewhere, including your own blog.
  • Round-ups assembled from other people’s articles.

How to pitch

Send two paragraphs on the story, one line on why you are the person to write it, and two published links. Do not send a finished draft: we would rather shape it with you than reject a piece you have already written.

House style

Non-English words in italics on first use. Rupiah first with a US dollar equivalent in brackets. Metric measurements. Dates in BBC style: 23 June 2026. Commissioned writers receive the full style guide.

Two paragraphs, one line about you, two links. That is all we need to say yes or no.
